prqlc is the Rust compiler and CLI for PRQL, a pipelined relational query language that compiles to SQL.

项目历史

PRQL began with a January 2022 proposal for a pipelined relational query language. A growing open-source group spent the following months building the compiler and integrations, declaring version 0.2.0 ready for use in June 2022. The CLI binary became prqlc around the 0.4 series, and the compiler crate was later renamed from prql-compiler to prqlc as part of a consistent project-wide naming scheme.

The January 2022 proposal reached second place on Hacker News and brought roughly 2,500 GitHub stars within days, according to the project's changelog. The compiler later gained Homebrew packaging, release binaries, Linux packages, a stable Snap, and bindings for several programming-language ecosystems.

Users write relational transformations as left-to-right pipelines and run prqlc to compile them into SQL for a selected database dialect. The CLI also supports formatting, watching files, debugging compiler stages, lineage output, and experimental syntax highlighting.
