Pi began as an open-source agent-harness monorepo containing a unified LLM API, agent runtime, terminal UI components, and an interactive coding-agent CLI. The project later moved into the Earendil Works organization and its canonical repository became earendil-works/pi.

The official documentation describes Pi as a minimal terminal agent designed to be adapted through extensions, skills, prompt templates, themes, packages, custom providers, and MCP servers. Its CLI and SDK share the same underlying agent facilities.
