プロジェクトの歴史

Stoplight developed Prism as a collection of packages for API mocking and contract testing. The project supports OpenAPI 2, OpenAPI 3.x and Postman collections, with a self-hosted HTTP server providing mock responses, request validation and content negotiation.

The 3.0 generation reached general release in July 2019 after a TypeScript-oriented refactoring and introduced a Docker image during its beta cycle. Later releases expanded schema support, validation behavior, content handling and deterministic dynamic example generation.

Stoplight made Prism available as the `@stoplight/prism-cli` npm package, a standalone command-line HTTP server, a Docker image and a component of its hosted API-design products. Homebrew, Nix and WinGet packaging further expose the CLI outside the Node.js package ecosystem.

Prism’s adoption niche is API-first development: teams can stand up a mock before backend implementation exists, place a validating proxy in front of an implementation and run the same checks in continuous integration.

`prism mock` starts an interactive mock server from an OpenAPI document, allowing clients to integrate before a backend is complete. `prism proxy` forwards traffic to a real API while checking requests and responses against the contract; both modes can be used locally or in CI.
