Historique du projet

The project began as an open-source Swift menu-bar utility for making macOS System Data inspectable and reclaimable item by item. Its architecture separates read-only storage probes from the component that performs reclamation.

Subsequent releases expanded the inventory, safety guidance, batch operations, project-oriented views, history charts, command-line JSON output, and guarded cleanup workflows while retaining explicit user control over deletion.

The application is distributed from GitHub releases and through the maintainer's Jarvis322 Homebrew tap. Signed and notarized releases made it usable as a conventional macOS utility rather than only a source-built developer tool.

Its inventory explicitly recognizes storage produced by Xcode simulators, Android tooling, package managers, virtual machines, AI models, browsers, communication apps, and project build directories, giving it particular relevance on developer Macs.

Modes d'utilisation

Launch the menu-bar application to scan storage, expand categories, inspect their largest entries, and select individual items for reclamation. Review items normally go to the Trash, while explicitly regenerable Safe items may be removed directly.

The application can emit its complete inventory as JSON for scripts. A separate shell script covers Safe categories with scan, dry-run, and explicit-apply modes.

Full Disk Access or administrator approval may be needed for protected locations and selected cleanup actions. The utility intentionally leaves Manual items to their owning tool or System Settings.

Unlike a generic cache cleaner, it reports measured filesystem entries with Safe, Review, or Manual classifications and uses tool-specific cleanup commands where appropriate. That makes it useful for understanding which development ecosystems are consuming disk space before removing anything.
