The POCO C++ Libraries are modular, cross-platform class libraries for building network-centric and internet applications on systems ranging from embedded devices to servers.
Historique du projet
Günter Obiltschnig started the project in 2004 as C++ POrtable COmponents, seeking a comprehensive portable library layer for networking, XML, databases, and other common application needs. The first public release followed in February 2005, and Aleksandar Fabijanic subsequently joined as a contributor and co-lead.
The project expanded into a broad family of libraries covering foundation types, networking, HTTP, XML, JSON, database access, cryptography, archives, Redis, MongoDB, logging, and application configuration. It uses the permissive Boost Software License.

POCO has been adopted in desktop, server, mobile, IoT, and embedded software. Upstream reports use across industrial automation, network analytics, automotive, enterprise infrastructure, finance, and healthcare, with distribution through operating-system packages and C++ package managers such as Conan and vcpkg.

C++ developers link the POCO components needed by their application for tasks such as sockets and HTTP, files and streams, XML and JSON processing, database access, cryptography, logging, and application configuration.
