Historique du projet

PGroonga's first release was published on January 29, 2015, followed by version 1.0.0 on October 29, 2015. Early releases rapidly added data-type support, customizable tokenizers and normalizers, Windows packages, highlighting, snippets, and JSONB indexing.

Version 2.0.0 arrived on August 17, 2017. It introduced PostgreSQL logical-replication support and moved functions, operators, and operator classes toward `pgroonga_`-prefixed names in the current schema while retaining backward compatibility with the original API.

Historique d'adoption

PGroonga was packaged across Linux distributions and Windows as its supported PostgreSQL and Groonga matrix grew. Its news archive records continuing platform additions, PostgreSQL-major support, replication work, and production-oriented maintenance.

The extension's principal adoption niche is fast multilingual full-text search inside PostgreSQL, especially where built-in indexing and tokenization are insufficient for Japanese and other language-independent search requirements.

Modes d'utilisation

After installing the extension files, a database administrator runs `CREATE EXTENSION pgroonga` and creates indexes with `CREATE INDEX ... USING pgroonga`. Applications then query through PGroonga operators and functions while remaining inside PostgreSQL SQL.

PGroonga uses PostgreSQL extension settings and SQL objects rather than a standalone user configuration or credentials file. Optional behavior is controlled through PostgreSQL parameters, index options, and SQL.
