The Oxc project announced Oxlint's general availability in December 2023 as a fast, correctness-oriented JavaScript linter built on the Oxc compiler stack.

A beta release in March 2025 substantially expanded rules, fixes, nested configuration, and framework-file support. Oxlint reached its first stable major release in June 2025, after which development added broader plugin compatibility and type-aware linting.
