The Parma Polyhedra Library is a C++ library of numerical abstractions for program analysis, verification, optimization, and related formal-methods work.

Projektgeschichte

The Parma Polyhedra Library emerged at the University of Parma as a free-software implementation of numerical abstractions for analysis and verification. Its first public alpha release appeared in October 2001, and the first general paper about the library was presented at the Static Analysis Symposium in 2002.

Successive releases broadened the original polyhedral domain with rational grids, bounded-difference and octagonal shapes, exact linear-programming facilities, parametric integer programming, powersets, and language interfaces. Copyright was transferred in 2011 to BUGSENG, a University of Parma spin-off, while the library remained free software. Release 1.0 followed in 2012.

PPL has been distributed through several Unix-like package ecosystems, including Homebrew, Debian, Fedora-family distributions, MacPorts, Nix, Arch, Ubuntu, and openSUSE.
