Podsync was developed as a self-hosted Go service for consuming YouTube and Vimeo content through podcast applications. Its scope grew to include scheduled updates, filters, feed customization, cleanup policies, OPML export, hooks, and multiple storage arrangements.
Later releases replaced youtube-dl with yt-dlp and expanded container-based deployment, while retaining TOML configuration and API-token support.

Podsync supports local binaries, Docker, Docker Compose, ARM systems, and several operating systems. Its official repository publishes release binaries and container images, making it practical for self-hosters who do not want to build the Go service themselves.
