PHP CS Fixer grew in the Symfony ecosystem as an automated response to repetitive coding-style corrections. The official site credits Symfony creator Fabien Potencier and Dariusz Rumiński and carries Sensio Labs copyright dating from 2010 onward.

The project developed an extensive catalog of atomic fixers, named rule sets, dry-run and diff-oriented CI workflows, and migration rules for newer PHP and PHPUnit idioms. It is now maintained in the dedicated PHP-CS-Fixer GitHub organization.
