PHP 8.3 is a parallel-installable PHP runtime branch for applications and extensions that require the PHP 8.3 language behavior and ABI.

Project history

PHP originated with Rasmus Lerdorf's CGI tools in 1994. PHP 3 established the modern project, PHP 4 began the Zend Engine era, PHP 7 delivered a substantial engine-performance rewrite, and PHP 8 introduced a new generation of language and type-system features.

PHP 8.3.0 was released on 23 November 2023.

PHP 8.3 added typed class constants, dynamic class-constant fetches, the Override attribute, readonly-property cloning changes, json_validate(), and additions to the Random extension.
