tdf is a terminal-based PDF viewer designed for responsive use with large documents. It renders documents inside terminal environments and provides asynchronous rendering, search, hot reload, and reactive layouts.

The public Rust project began in 2024. Version 0.3.0, released in March 2025, rewrote the viewer around MuPDF for better rendering quality and performance; the 0.4 series improved the Kitty image backend and zoom behavior, and version 0.5.0 continued usability and stability work. The current changelog also records forthcoming Windows support.
